Makeup for busy mums: 4 must have high street products

Working full time and having a 4 year old can be a tough job. Early mornings getting both myself and my daughter ready and out of the door  can have me pulling my hair out.

Pre-child, I used to love spending time getting ready on a morning, popping a TV show on Netflix for background noise and preening myself. Now the Netflix is set to Paw Patrol, the minutes on the clock are ticking by, and I’m wondering how much of my face I can finish before I hear the infamous “I’m hungry” yet again (the child is a bottomless pit!).

Here are my top 5 must have products to make sure I am looking fresh and ready no matter how stressful my morning has been before I’ve even opened the front door.

1. An all round amazing foundation

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Having a flawless base is the key to everything! I never go budget on my foundation – the higher end brands are certainly worth the pennies! Apply a quick coat of foundation with your favourite make up brush and your day already looks brighter.

2. Go bag free

Maybelline Eraser Eye

Late nights mixed with those early mornings mean bags are inevitable. A good concealer will hide a multitude of sins. The Eraser Eye Concealer by Maybelline is my all time favourite – turn the applicator one or two clicks, apply directly under the eyes in triangles, then use a sponge or brush to blend. Awake in an instant!

3. Get that glow

Makeup for busy mums - L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer Pen

Although billed as a concealer, I use this in the lightest shade as more of a blend-able highlighter, applied to the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and above the lip. Instant glow in a handy pen!

L’Oreal Touche Maqique Concealer Pen – £7.99

4. A pop of colour

MAC Ruby Woo

Lipstick instantly brightens up my face and I feel bare without it. I am yet to find my perfect nude colour, they all seem to wash me out, but I am a big fan of a red lip. That pop of colour can really compliment the rest of your makeup and get you ready to face the world.
